A Dubai resident has praised Dubai Police after officers looked after her two dogs following a car accident on Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road on Monday.

Lumia Khan, a Pakistani expat born in Khor Fakkan, told Khaleej Times her car was hit from behind at around 4pm as she drove towards Mirdif. She was unhurt, but her husky and Australian shepherd were visibly stressed by the impact.

Two officers saw she was alone and, without being asked, cared for the dogs while she completed the accident paperwork. One noticed that the husky was unwell and called a pet ambulance, which arrived in under ten minutes. Police then drove ahead of the ambulance so it could reach the clinic safely.

The dogs stayed overnight at the clinic. Khan, who runs a pet adventure company, shared the story on social media and said living in such a pet-friendly country is a blessing.
